Irula is an ethnic community which is belonging to Attappady region of Palakkad district in Kerala. The ethnic population of Attapady is constituted of three major communities’ viz. the Irulas, the Mudugas, and the Kurumbas. Numerically the Irulas form the largest ethnic community while the Kurumbas form the smallest. These three tribal communities have their own specific culture, their own language for communication, they have their own administrative strategy of lead or rule the community and they have a hierarchical position to administrate the community. Their language is entirely different than the other languages; it has its own peculiarity in the sound system and grammatical system. And this book gives an account of Irula language.
